THE BURROW - Author Maya Illustrated by Sofia & Maya

I wondered more as I gazed. I scuffed the leaves on the floor, wondering what it would throw at me. I heard the wind whisper my name.*WHOOSH* What was that? I didn't know so I just kept on walking. This time it was even louder. It came from a berry bush. I wondered what it was. Curious, I opened up the bushes.

It was only a dog. The dog looked just like my dog. Same cheeky eyes. I wondered why there would be a dog in the forest. Then suddenly, the dog had a waist coat on! I couldn't believe my eyes. The dog hopped away. I followed it, curious. It stopped at a burrow. It looked at me, and then dived into the burrow.

Why would a dog go into a burrow? I wondered. So I crawled cautiously into the burrow. I slipped, I started to fall screaming. I passed clocks, and other weird things I can’t describe. It seemed to go on forever. Finally I stopped. I saw the dog. It went into a door that it could just fit through.

I was about to fall to the ground. I stopped. I was floating above the ground. Upside down. I tried to think of happy things, like when I first got my dog. Suddenly, I fell into a floating door. A burst of light filled my eyes. I shut my eyes as tight as I could. I felt something licking my face I opened my eyes.

I was at my old house, on the floor. My dog was licking me, but he was young. I went to the bathroom to wash my face. I splashed the cold water onto my face and looked into the mirror. I gasped. I was 4 years old. I had to go back to that burrow.

I had the greatest idea. I ran outside, opened the garage and took my bike. I peddled as fast as I could to the forest I hopped off my bike. I ran straight to the burrow panting hard. A fox jumped in front of me. I stopped, and tripped over. The fox jumped on me and sniffed me. It went into the burrow.
I stood up brushing the dirt off me. I ran into the burrow I crawled and jumped into the hole. I landed, flat on my face into dirt.

Would I have to live my life all over again?
